I *still* don't see the point of facebook (or twitter or the other "new new things") so I just deactivated my account with them today.. total waste of time as far as I'm concerned!
So yes, I won't be missing it whatever happens to it. There is no "value add" as far as I'm concerned.

And honestly though, I don't think so. Facebook has so many members that its cash value is just through the roof for it to just close up and go home like that.
Google made an offer to buy it for a billion US, Facebook's founder refused. Two of his college friends who claim to have come up with the original idea and now run a similar service called "ContactU" (or something like that) are suing Facebook for breach of confidence and stealing their idea and are demanding that it be shut down and reparations made to the twin brothers who are the originators of the idea.
Yep, heard that a while ago. They use pretty much the same code. ContactU never made it really big at all though. Its more to do with marketing your product, rather than just coming up with an idea
